“This truck-looking thing was my first shop vehicle,” says Larry Elliott, Elliott Design, McLemoresville, Tennessee. “I built it from a 1953 Packard sedan in 1970. It had a ‘straight 8’ 327 cu. in. engine that was the smoothest running motor I’ve ever seen. I built the body out of Claclex—a wood chip fiberboard material with a phenolic paper finish over it. It was sort of like overlaid plywood and was used for storefronts back in the 60’s/70’s. It was great stuff! I made lots of signs out of that stuff back then.
