Port Townsend, located on the remote northeast corner of Washington’s Olympic Peninsula, is a picturesque coastal town, nestled alongside the remote shoreline of Puget Sound. It was, at one time, projected to be the “New York of the West”. While that was never realized, the impressive late Victorian-style brick buildings remain to remind visitors of early efforts to reach the dream.
