“This car was pearlescent white—the type of metallic white that swallows the light,” says John Elliott, Prickle Patch Signs, Valla, New South Wales, Australia. “I didn’t want to obscure that beautiful effect with a sheet of vinyl. To me, it was just begging for a lovely blend to show off the pearl.

“So I printed the blend and wobbly lines on cast clear. I knew it would wrap, but with no air egress provisions in the adhesive, so I had to judiciously use moisture to apply it. Fortunately the owner was away on holidays, so I had plenty of time to allow the moisture to dry out before trimming and pushing the film into the door handle recesses.

“The wrap goes from the panel seam at the headlight to the one just behind the rear wheel. I applied the vinyl lettering over the gradient wrap.”
