“The graphics are a mix of double-gilded 23k gold leaf and RealGold sign vinyl,” says Kyle French, Pilot Rock Signs, Cherokee, Iowa, “on two sandblasted high-density urethane panels sandwiched over powdercoated steel frame. The center circular piece is stained glass that we designed and commissioned a local glass artist to make. It’s also sandwiched between the two HDU panels.”
“The basic elements were CNC router-cut by my friends at Diverse Signs,” says JB Magana, JB Signco, Fresno, California, “then I hand-tooled the rest using X-acto knives, a hand saw, a Dremel tool and an angle grinder. I applied the faux finishes using a dry-roller technique and washes.”
Carved high-density urethane board, hand painted with acrylic paints. The large copy says SIGNS and the secondary copy says Musin Bros. Musin Bros. Signs, Kazan, Russia.
