Signs that sell food
Burgers, tacos, cocktails—cool signs sell them all

Food signs are fun! For me, the point of food signs is to make someone want to eat—or drink.
There’s nothing like using melted cheese colors on a pizza sign. One of my customers told me a long time ago that red, yellow and green are the magic colors for food signs. I’m not sure about that, but it seems I use them a lot! Color matters, and I guess blue is not really a food-type color.
With food signs, as with all effective signs, the basic rules of legibility apply. Well, maybe. Today, a lot of what I see is just photos of food. Or even more often, I see blackboards with specials written on them. When you get three or four restaurants in a row, each with two or three plain blackboards saying that a pizza is cheaper than the other, it really looks bad.
