I moved from California to Europe (Is that vague enough? Hey, I could’ve said, “from the Western western hemisphere to Eastern western hemisphere!”) in 2004. I was 57 years old and had a pretty good sign gig going in the then “Golden State”—doing the full gamut of banners, magnetics, acrylic faces, sandblasted, MDO, splash windows, vehicle lettering, quill or plotter.
To cut to the chase, things haven’t worked out for me as a sign artist in Europe . However, I still do Christmas windows at 74-years-of-age, and occasional vinyl window lettering. I had to learn parts of Adobe Suite and did PDF ads, animated web banners, some web site development and logo design to generate a sporadic income.
