Tired of leaning on the same old fonts for your layouts but don’t have time to look for some fresh new ones?
SignCraft is asking top sign designers to share a few of their current favorites to give you a few new possibilities to consider.
Randy Howe handles a variety of mainstream commercial sign work at his shop,
Getzum Exposure, in Port Dover, Ontario, Canada—truck lettering, flat signs and digital printing along with printed sportswear. He has plenty of fonts and is always on the lookout for something new and creative that will work well at the sizes needed for signs, where legibility is crucial. He also believes that it’s not all about the fonts.
“Effective fonts are important,” says Randy, “but you don’t need a certain font to do a good layout. What matters is using solid layout principles to create an effective, legible design. The font choice and color choice support that, but it can’t replace it. It’s the layout that really matters.”
