Tips & Tricks: Bond acrylic without the applicator bottle clogging

When gluing acrylic, as when you’re replacing channel letter faces, don’t use hypo #25 bottles. They clog very easily and it’s difficult to clear them. We used to use a lighter to melt the glue and clear the tube. That stinks and the fumes certainly can’t be good for you.

Instead use the hypo #49 bottle. Insert a piece of neon tie wire (or similarly sized solid wire) into the tube. It restricts the flow just enough. And when the tube clogs—and they always do—simply slide the wire back and forth to clear the blockage.
