When doing V-carving in wood, don’t assume that the piece is perfectly flat. Even a small difference in thickness from one side to the other will give bad results when you carve it.
Take the time to use your CNC to plane both sides of your piece to insure an accurate cut. In the photo, it’s easy to see how the V-carved lines are much thicker on one side than the other on this piece.
The difference in thickness from side-to-side in this wood panel was only about .015-in. but it caused a lot of distortion when I carved it without flattening it first.
