If you saw our recent post, “Turn the building into a sign,” you may be looking for opportunities to let the entire building or storefront become the signage. This Denver, Colorado, storefront is another great example of how effective that approach can be.
The building is painted a warm dark gray. The front, though, is painted white with a very dark gray panel below, which wraps around the building. That same dark gray was also used for the trim.
The result is that the clean, simple graphics, with plenty of negative space around them, have loads of impact. The entire storefront becomes the background of the sign, making the graphics all the more powerful, thanks to the paint scheme.
This is the work of Jeff Spanski and his team at Vision Visual in Golden, Colorado. Jeff says that utilizing the whole building into the sign was the goal of the project. Most of the buildings around Shaker Painting are larger, and Jeff’s approach let the company create a clean, imposing presence on the busy downtown street.
