There’s a lot to learn from a behind-the-scenes look at how a sign project came together. How the sign was built, what materials and finishes were used, and how it was installed are all key parts of the sign making process. We’ll let Chris Lovelady, Vital Signs LLC, Thomasville, Georgia, tell you how this monument sign came together:
This project was a large monument sign for an apartment complex. I put the design together then had
Peachtree City Foamcraft fabricate it. They build exterior monument signs with a lightweight, eps foam core and are sprayed with their exclusive Poly-Armor hardcoat which makes the monument impervious to rot, termites and moisture. Compared to a traditional brick-and-mortar monument structure, the Peachtree monument is a very practical option that looks great.
It’s big—10-by-10-ft. It’s mounted on three steel posts that are set in 2-ft.-diameter concrete footings that are three feet deep. To get the sign permit, we had an engineer do the wind load drawings we needed.
