Script adds a personal look to a layout and brings energy that stiffer typefaces can’t match. It works well for primary copy as long as the particular word doesn’t make it hard to read. It can also play well for the secondary copy when a stiff typeface is used for the primary copy by adding contrast.
Ken Tamashiro [Ken’s Custom Signs, Long Beach, California] is always on the lookout for great fonts for sign work that are also a great value. He recently passed these 11 script typefaces along for us to share with
SignCraft readers.
Several of these typefaces are available for free download. If you use them commercially, though, you must buy the license—but at $25 or less, they’re very affordable.
